Modernity just is social secularization, while a secularised society just is a capitalist society which is distinguished by rational economic activity. Then it can be realistic to critique the modernity from two perspectives. When criticism on modernity is the self-reflection of ration from the perspective of ration, the problems caused by modernity can incorporate is the leading of instrumental rationality and the subject are deprived of independence. When criticism on modernity is the materialization of production relations from the perspective of capital, the problems caused by modernity can incorporate is the human paradox, the economic paradox, the social paradox and the ecological paradox. Only the latter is realistic, which is Marx’s criticism on modernity.Look in Marx, the problems caused by modernity is the alienation of society which arises from capital movement, where the relationship between objects substitute human relationship and the subject cling to things and lose their independence. According to Marx, labour is the genus essence of man, but the alienation of labour emerge in capitalist conditions, the products of labour is antagonistic to their producer—workers. Because of the pressure of survival, they had to sell their labour to capitalist. As the labour through the carrier of labourer—orkers—orks, worker becomes a commodity, but it’s a special commodity that can create surplus values, when capital accumulation can be possible. Value-added is the only impulse for capital, the whole society must be turbulent because of this ceaseless impulse. It’s obvious that Marx’s criticism on modernity is unfolded as follow:alienation—commodity—capital.Marx expounds the four modernistic paradoxes due to the logical features of capital when he critiques Capital. According to my believes, in order to crack the modernistic paradoxes due to the logical features of capital, the surplus values must be regressed to human being’s self. Namely, the surplus values must be regressed to the physical environment and social environment on which our life depends, only in this way can the value-added of capital be economic sustainable development. However, not in capitalist society but in socialist society this regression can be achieved, because it’s self-conscious in socialist society, while the real path is persist in Scientific Outlook on Development:adhere to people-oriented, cracking the human paradox; realizing common prosperity, cracking the economic paradox; building a harmonious society, cracking the social paradox; utilizing the natural resources eco-friendly, cracking the ecological paradox.
