Early Childhood Education is the foundation of basic education, and it influencesdirectly the improvement of a national quality and the sustainable development of anation’s future. The newly promulgated The National Long-term Education Reformand Development Plan(Outline)clearly points out that we should actively developthe pre-school education, which makes a bright future for Early Childhood Education.Kindergarten educational activity, as the elemental form of kindergarten educationand the implementing carrier of kindergarten curriculum, plays an important role inpromoting children’s comprehensive, healthy, harmonious and overall development.The kindergarten education has made considerable development since TheKindergarten Education Guidelines was carried out ten years ago. Profound changeshave taken place in the educational target system and in the selection of educationcontent as well as in teaching strategies and in learning methods and educationalevaluation system. Therefore, teachers have always focused on the study ofkindergarten educational activities concerning implementing kindergarten curriculum.At present, most of such educational activities only attach an importance to onefield of teaching content or one aspect of teaching activity theoretically andpractically in China. That is to say, comprehensive and systematic research, especially,investigation of the existing problems is relatively less in the study of kindergarteneducational activities. Therefore, this study aims at improving kindergarten teachers’professional level through probing and studying the problems in the currentkindergarten educational activities, in order to adapt to the current preschooleducation reform and to promote children’s physical and mental development.This thesis can be divided into four parts.The first part is an overview of kindergarten educational activities. It firstanalyzes the characteristics of kindergarten educational activities on the basis ofgrasping the meaning of kindergarten educational activities, and it further discussesthe significance of kindergarten educational activities and then it expounds the enlightenment from Piaget’s Theory and Lev Vygotsky’s Construction Theory.The second part discusses the problems in the current kindergarten educationalactivities through case studies. The problems in confirming activity goals are obscure,improper, inconsistent goals, and monotonous content. In preparing for activities, theproblems are neglecting the preparation for children of knowledge and experience andlacking appropriate material preparation. In choosing activities, the problems areseparating from children’s life, rigidly adhering to textbooks and neglecting children’sinterest. In organizing activities, the problems are inconspicuous themes, poorchildren’s subjectivity, lacking effectiveness in questioning, and lackinghuman-oriented education. Furthermore, the extension of activities becomes a mereformality.The third part introduces the elements which affects the kindergarten educationalactivities. In the first place, it analyzes the education concept and teaching abilities ofthe teachers. Secondly, it brings in the features and the needs of the cultivation ofchildren, as well as their behavioral and emotional performance. Besides, it discussesthe components of education resources from the kindergarten, family and society,which can all affect the kindergarten educational activities.In the fourth part, the study presents the countermeasures and suggestions foroptimizing the kindergarten educational activities. And it gives three suggestions:renewing teachers’educational concept to make it fit for the social development,refining the kindergarten training mechanism and enhancing teachers’professionalability, integrating the educational resources and enriching the content of theactivities.
