Language learning is a process that errors exist, and then people correct these errors. At last, the language that people are learning becomes closer to the target language. Errors exist in spelling, the usage of vocabulary and grammar in the second language acquisition (SLA). The researcher, based on the theories of error analysis, contrastive analysis and the analysis of Interlanguage, analyzes411junior students’1644compositions of Southwest Jiaotong University Attached Middle school in Chengdu. The analysis shows that errors exist in vocabulary, grammar and pragmatics.First, most of the errors on vocabulary exist in spelling, which will disappear as learning more about English. But errors which exist in the collocation and the choice of the words will not disappear while the students learning English.Second, errors on grammar mostly exist in the usage of part of speech, the morphological changes and the order of the words. As for part of speech, errors exist in the usage of verbs, nouns and the prepositions. As for the order of the words, errors exist in the differences of the cognitive styles of time and possession, and the ways of describing the nature of things. At last, errors on pragmatics exist in the differences of cohesions between Chinese and English, such as the usage of different topics, focuses, etc.According to the analysis, the thesis explains the reasons why errors exist, and suggests students and teachers should make more efforts to gain the proper English learning strategies.
