A Empirical Study Into Urban Social Adaptation About Migrant Muslims In Lanzhou City

At present, the large-scale population flow is one of the most significant features in urbanization of China. Because of religion of migrants which resulting in their social adaptation confront the dual challenge of both rural-to-urban migration and interracial communication. The main part of floating population of national minorities is migrant Muslim. Therefore, the study of social adaptation of migrant Muslim has significant for floating population administration and construction of harmonious community. Take an example as Lanzhou, the characteristic, situation and influencing factor of social adaptation of migrant Muslim was researched.Firstly, the migrant Muslim has the feature of concentrated and single source, male,35-55years old, junior middle school cultural degree and under it, the career of individual household, the monthly income level mainly focused on the500-2000RMB and the living area is less than80m2. At the same time, the aim to city is increase income and opens the mind, however, harder job opportunities and lower income level in reality is conflicting with their initial expectation.Secondly,11indexes was choose to evaluate the level of social adaptation, and3factors i.e. city belongs, identity judgment, and self affirmation were extract to building function of social adaptation. According to this function, the scores interval of social adaptation of migrant Muslim is ranged from-0.243to0.593with mean of0.228close to zero, therefore the level of social adaptation of migrant Muslim is lower that is consistent with the practical survey results above.Thirdly, the level of social adaptation of migrant Muslim has significantly difference with different age, education level, and economic income occupation, awareness level of the national culture, places of origin, and living environment but not significantly with different sex and.marital status. Stepwise regression model showed that the social factors such as education level, income, job opportunities and so on are mainly factors. And national factors, cultural identity and religion are reasons more profound to deepen the in-adaptation of migrant Muslim.Therefore, it should be strengthened that:(1) to handle correctly the relationship between the development and harmony to promote harmonious development of community construction;(2) establish a perfect social security system and make reasonable national preferential policy; and (3) construction and promote Islamic cultural development to enhance the Muslim city ownership and identity.
