Offensive tactics of basketball are various and flexible, which can be classified into four groups in terms of the feature of formation and the actions of players. The four groups are as follows:fast-break tactics, position attack tactics,"Fast play against all" is the quintessence among all kinds of offensive tactics. And fast-break tactics is regarded as the sharp weapon which is the most likely to reflect and achieve this tactical target. At present, it is common that every team in taking part in leagues, the Olympic Games, and World Championship would adopt fast-break tactics to attack their opponents. Especially when they fell behind, fast-break tactics will not only narrow the gap between scores, but inspire players and establish their confidence. Meanwhile, the opponents may be in great panic. In recent years, with the strengthening of basketball players’ height, movement speed, jumping ability, players in Asian countries start learning and imitating the route of some European countries that is "high, strong, swift, and fierce". Therefore, instead of the original feature of "swift, accurate, agile" in Asia, now those giants like Yao Ming, Bateer, He Shenzhen are active in the post. Although their capacity doubtlessly will cause trouble to the opponents, they are not perfect in jumping, endurance, and movement compared with top players in the world powerful teams. Such weaknesses should attribute to ethnic differences and training practice. Asian players are unable to effectively get involved in the fast-break tactics in attacking or to quick get back preventing the opponents from fast break in defense. Thus, Asian teams are weaker in fast break and defense than the world top teams, and this insufficiency has become one of the primary reasons negatively affecting their performance. Started with fast-break tactics of Asian players and based on top eight teams’ performance in the26th FIBA Asia Championship, this article makes a comprehensive, systematic, and intensive research on fast-break tactics aiming at having a better understanding of the current level of Asian players’ fast-break ability. What’s more, by making a self-analysis and updating the knowledge about the theory and practice of fast-break, some scientific evidences will be provided for improving Asian players’fast-break ability and Chinese team’s overall strength.First of all, this paper consults a large amount of academic materials at home and abroad by documentary method to fully know about current level of fast-break tactics in Asia. Additionally, interviewing and recording are also used to converse with several basketball experts and then on the basis of their agreement, some statistical data can be confirmed including the offense frequencies, fast-break, the average time of each fast-break, success rate of fast-break, etc. Secondly, the author adopts video analysis method to watch every match repeatedly and carefully. To make sure the reliability of the data, the author would watch some complex and fast movements with the speed of15frames/second again and again until the demanding data are achieved. Thirdly, after organizing those data, the final result would be calculated with the tools of Microsoft office excel2003as well as SPASS18.0.Conclusion:1.The fast-break tactics of the top eight teams in the26th Asian men’s basketball championships represent the highest level of the Asian men’s basketball match.2.1n the Asian men’s basketball championships, the success rate of fast-break and the proportion of fast-break tactics are relevant in direct ratio to the result of the competition, and it is true of the fact that the better the place of a team in a competition the higher of the success rate of fast-break and the proportion of fast-break tactics.3.In the start stage of fast-break strategy, defensive rebounding and stealing take majority, and the number of using throw-in and baseline ball become clearly less; take pattern is simple, with fixed takes as the mainstream; the position of the personnel is mainly in the backfield and midfield, with guard takes more basketballs.4.The push stage of fast-break strategy is relatively balanced, but because the participation of the whole team is not enough, there are too many turnovers when passing the ball, which leads to the high error probability in this stage.5.In the finish stage, layup is the mainstream, while dunks and3-point shooting become slightly less, and the success rate of this situation when attackers are as many as the defenders’ or less than them needs to be further improved.6.Chinese team shows strong fast-break strength in the26th Asian men’s basketball championships, but attention shall be paid to the different position players in close cooperation with an appropriate division of labor in the fast break. In addition, to reduce errors and improve the success rate of fast break is an urgent problem to be solved.
