ObjectiveWith poor self-control, low self-esteem, poor cognitive abilities, escapism and other psychological characteristics, part of the adolescents are more easily to get to the Internet addiction disorder in a variety of adverse factors or the characteristics of the network itself. Now, the studies of IAD are. mostly cases study and lack of preventive intervention research for general group on mental health education. We investigate the mental health status into the junior middle school students. And targeted psychological health education were carried out to the junior students of grade one. It is the aim to discuss the effect of psychological intervention, to improve the level of mental health status and to prevent the happening of IAD for the junior middle school students.MethodsThe junior middle school was selected by cluster sampling. As a part of the study, all student from this school were assessed with General situation questionnaire, Egma Minnen av Barndoms Uppfostran(EMBU) and Symptom Checklist90(SCL-90) to investigate their mental health status. For further study, Non-IAD students who were selected by I ADDS were divided into the study group (n=411) and the control group (n=368). The study group received a1-year psychological intervention but the control group did not. Both groups were assessed with IADDS and SCL-90to analyze the changes of IAD and mental health status between Pre-and Post-intervention. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS18.0software.Results1. The incidence of poor mental health status among junior middle school students was15.4%. No significant difference was found in gender and grade (P>0.05).2. No significant differences were found in factors of fathers’ partiality and mothers’partiality between good and poor mental health students by EMBU (P>0.05).In the factors of parent’emotional-warmth-understand, the scores of poor mental health group are lower than the good group(P<0.01). In other factors, the scores of poor mental health group are higher than the good group (P<0.01).3. Logistic regression analysis showed that the affecting factors of mental health status included father’s Occupation, father’s health status, mother’s cultural level, social morality around family, whether or not the parents often quarrel with each other and Single situation(P<0.05).4. In the study group, significant differences were found in the total score of IADDS and in the total or all factors of SCL-90between Pre-and Post-intervention (P<0.05).5. In the control group, no significant differences were found in the total scores of IADDS and SCL-90in any assessment point (P>0.05).6. Before the intervention, no significant differences were found in the total scores of IADDS and SCL-90between the study group and the control group. After the intervention, the study group’s total scores of IADDS and SCL-90are lower than the control group’s.Conclusion1. The mental health status was poor in junior middle school students. And it is closely associated with many factors of family.2. Psychological intervention could be obviously improved the mental health status and IAD condition of grade one students in junior school. It also can effectively prevent or reduce the happening of the Internet addiction.
