Research objectives: Adolescents are overweight and obese due to physical inactivity and other reasons, affecting their physical and mental health,so it is especially important to seek a sport that can lose weight and improve mental health.Latin dance is a new sport that integrates sports and art, which is simple and easy to learn, operable, has a variety of content, and is loved by the majority of teenagers.By observing the changes in body morphology, physical fitness and mental health indicators of obese junior high school students after 12 weeks of Latin dance exercise intervention, this paper discusses the impact of Latin dance exercise on the physical and mental health of obese junior high school students, and provides scientific and effective exercise means for junior high school students to prevent the occurrence and development of obese body shape and promote mental health,in order to provide a theoretical basis for promoting the development of Latin dance sports in junior high school campuses.Research methods: By screening 40 junior high school students with simple obesity in Nanjing Normal Affiliated Middle School who meet the obesity standards as experimental objects, they were divided into experimental groups and control groups, with 20 students in each group. Both groups participated in the school's physical education curriculum normally,in which Latin dance exercise intervention was added to the experimental group. The experimental group conducted 90 minutes of Latin dance practice every Monday,Wednesday and Friday afternoon for 12 weeks, and the heart rate of the basic part of Latin dance practice was controlled at 120-150 beats per minute. Before the experiment, the subjects underwent a medical examination and medical history by a professional physician.During the experiment, the subjects were given a uniform room and board during their time at school. Before and after the experiment, subjects were tested with physical morphological indicators(height, weight, hip circumference, waist circumference,BMI,waist-to-hip ratio),physical fitness indicators(50-meter running, standing long jump, seated body forward flexion,one-minute sit-ups,800-meter running)and mental health indicators(using the SCL-90 scale).Sp SS17.0 software package was used to perform statistical analysis.Research results:(1)Body shape indexes: The changes of body weight,BMI,waist circumference, hip circumference and waist hip ratio decreased. There were significant differences in body weight and waist circumference(P < 0.05).BMI,hip circumference and waist hip ratio showed a downward trend, but there was no significant difference. After the experiment, there were small changes in height, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference and waist hip ratio in the control group, which were lower than those in the experimental group, but there was no significant difference. There was no significant difference in waist circumference between the experimental group and the control group(P < 0.05).(2)Physical fitness indicators: The sitting posture anterior flexion of the experimental group increased and the 800 meter running increased, with significant difference(P < 0.05).The results of standing long jump,50 meter run and one minute sit ups were improved, but there was no significant difference(P > 0.05).The physical fitness index of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group, but there was no significant difference(P > 0.05).(3)Mental health indicators: After 12 weeks of Latin dance exercise intervention, the overall of SCL-90 in the experimental group decreased(P<0.05).Interpersonal sensitivity score, depression score, anxiety score decreased(P <0.05).Somatization,obsessive-compulsive disorder, hostility, terror, paranoia and mental symptoms had no significant changes;Experimental group decreased more than control group in the total score of SCL-90,and there was significant difference(P <0.05).The factors in the control group showed an increasing trend, but there was no significant difference.Compared with the control group, the experimental group had lower scores of population mean, interpersonal sensitivity, anxiety and depression, and there was significant difference(P <0.05).Research conclusions:(1)The body shape of obese junior high school students was improved through Latin dance movement intervention,of which weight and waist circumference were reduced, indicating that Latin dance exercise had a certain effect on improving the body shape of obese junior high school students and preventing and controlling the occurrence and development of their obese body shape.(2)After the intervention of Latin dance exercise, there is a trend of improvement is a trend of improvement in the overall physical fitness of obese junior high school students, especially the sitting body forward flexion and 800 meters running performance, which shows that long-term Latin dance exercise is helpful for improving the flexibility and endurance physical fitness of obese junior high school students.(3)Latin dance exercise intervention can effectively improve the mental health of obese junior high school students. The COVID-19 epidemic has increased the number of people who sit still and live a less active lifestyle, which will make obesity more prominent, and the psychological problems such as anxiety caused by the long-term closure required by epidemic prevention and control have also increased.Suggestion: Increase the publicity of the Latin dance movement, and strengthen the construction of the professional teaching team of Latin dance to promote the development of Latin dance in primary and secondary school campuses: in the early stage of practice, first from interest to experience the charm and joy of Latin dance, the practice should be gradual and persistent, and establish the idea of "lifelong sports" : According to the age stage and different groups of people, overweight and obese students can design different teaching content according to their specific conditions, and should not be generalized.
