"Left-behind middle school students" refers to those one or both of whose parents move toother areas, with children under18years of age staying in the location of residence. The childrencannot live together with their parents. Family is the most important site of early childhood moraleducation. Parents are the most important mentors for their children’s moral habits’ development.Children and parents living together is the best, most natural environment for children’s earlyideological and moral education. But left-behind children of one or both parents go out for work, andcannot live together with these children. It has negative impact on the children’s physical growth,learning, and character building. In the first part of this article I set out the definition of ideology andmoral character.In the second part I would like to a middle school in Huai’an city as an example forin-depth research of the present situation of ideological and moral education of middle schoolstudents left in rural areas. The data received will be processed carefully. On the basis of thisanalysis I try to figure out the features left behind in the rural junior middle school students’ideological and moral characteristics, elaborated from the both negative and positive aspects. In thethird part I want to find out the causes according to the current situation of students’ ideological andmoral education in rural middle schools. I come down to the reasons from students left behind itself,analysis of family education, school education, social care and so on. In the final part I try my best tofigure out the measures attempting to improve ideological and moral education in rural junior middleschool students left behind.
