The Relationship Among Volunteering Motivation, Moral Emotion And Volunteerism

As the cornerstone of civil society building, volunteerism was drew the attentionof the whole world. The importance of volunteerism was recognised by all over theworld.Volunteerism is not only an effect way to help people deal with socialproblems, but also a good asistant to the goverment with these social problems.Chinanow faces many social problems, such as the disparate development on economic andculture, people feels unsafe and so on. So, we need to tap the enormous potential ofvolunteerism in solving social problems, and give volunreerism a full play to the roleof voluntary behavior in solving social problems.Let volunteerism and the govermentwork together to give a satisfactory solution to social problems.And meanwhile,theSixth Plenary Session of the16th Party Central Committee deliberated and passed<CCP decision on some major issues of building a harmonious socialist society>.Thedecision clearly demand " on the basis of mutual care and community serving,deeplycarry out the activity of the urban and rural social volunteerism activities,establish thesystem that connect between goverment and market service".So study onvolunteerism plays an important role on improving social harmony and progress.Using stratified cluster sampling, we selected525university students from5universitys and colleges.By using four questionares I gather message about thestudents’ volunteerism tendency, empathy, gratitude and volunteer motivition. Thestudy then discuss the correlation between gratitude,empathic ability,volunteermotivation and volunteerism tendency, so we can lay a good foundation for the furtherstudy about gratitde. The results showed:(1)Five factors of volunteer motivation have a function of explenation andanticipation to different extents for each factor of volunteer tendency.Only socialcommunication motivition, self-protecting and self-developing motivation enter theregression equation of the intensity factor of volunteer tendency.(2)Two factors of empathy abilities have a function of explenation andanticipation to different extents for each factor of volunteer tendency.(3)Four factors of gratitude abilities have a function of explenation and anticipation to different extents for each factor of volunteer tendency.(4)Volunteer motivation, empathy and gratitude ability have a function ofexplenation and anticipation to different extents for each factor of volunteertendency.Social communication motivition was a partly mediator between empathyability and volunteer tendency,Social communication motivition was a partly mediatorbetween gratitude ability and volunteer tendency,self-protecting and self-developingmotivation was a partly mediator between empathy ability and volunteertendency,self-protecting and self-developing motivation was a partly mediatorbetween gratitude ability and volunteer tendency,Gratitude was a partly mediatorbetween empathic ability and volunteer tendency.
