Data backup and recovery system has long been one of the most active areas of computer applications. Because the traditional system mainly relies on the time plan backup strategy, the backup points are discrete and the update data between two backup points would be lost. But the real-time backup and recovery system powered by continuous data protection technology is able to recover the protected target to the any time point status which removes away the inherent weaknesses of traditional backup methods such as rough time strategy and large backup window. The common backup technologies such as time plan and manual backup are broken by this system. So the system highly enhances the ability of data protection.The real-time backup and recovery system powered by continuous data protection technology can cause data explosion, so the cost for storage is expensive. The new system proposed by this thesis not only derives the all dramatic features of the real-time backup and recovery system, but also enhances the efficiency of the storage by applying the optimized implementation of data de-duplication. The most important thing is that we have all intellectual property of the new system. Because the recovery module can run in pre-OS environment, the system can also restore the protected OS even if the OS has been crashed. The system can backup data or recover data from remote server by applying network transport technology. |
