With the speed and bus width increasing of processing chips, the capabilities ofdata transmission and exchange between chips and processing modules have becomeever-important factors in the performance enhancement and engineering realizationcomplexity when construct a system. On the other hand, along with the widely used ofparallel processing system in high-speed real-time signal processing, constructing ofhigh speed reliable and reconfigurable parallel processing networks have importantpractical values.Based on the background mentioned above, this paper chooses the subject ofhigh-speed serial data transmission and exchange as its research direction. To preparefor design application, some basic knowledge of the high-speed serial data transmissionhas been deeply researched followed with detail introduce of some widely used serialdata transmission protocols. After that, a compare between the protocols introduced hasbeen made through analyzing their characteristics in order to provide designers with anappropriate solution for their specific applications. Then a high-speed serial datatransmission based on the embedded hardware intellectual property core RocketIO inthe Vietex-5FPGA of the Xilinx Corporation will be designed and validated. In addition,in view of the extensive application of parallel processing technology in currenthigh-speed real-time signal processing area, an analysis of high-speed data exchangebetween processing and a design of serial RapidIO reconfigurable switching networkusing the IDT Tsi578chip will be completed. |
