As a new kind of earth observation technologies, airborne LiDAR can quickly obtain thethree-dimensional coordinates of the surface points of a wide range of terrain, and then get theDSM and DEM with high-precision and high-resolution, and therefore get concern of variousfields. After ten years of rapid development, the hardware of airborne LiDAR system isbecoming more and more mature, and also there are a lot of mature business systems on theinternational market. However, relative to the hardware technology of Airborne LiDARsystem, the development of data post-processing and applying research of airborne LiDAR isslower. One of the key issues restricting its development is the elimination of airborne LiDARsystem error. The systematic error is the main factor affecting the airborne LiDAR accuracy,and the system calibration is the main method to eliminate systematic errors. Although therehave been a lot of research, but there is still a lack of a standard calibration method. Therefore,on the basis of airborne LiDAR positioning principle, this thesis does a quantitative analysisof the impact of the systematic errors and presents two methods of system calibration. Themain content of this thesis is as follows:1. Introduce the components and the positioning principle of airborne LiDAR system.The geometric positioning equation of Airborne LiDAR is also derived.2. Analyze the system error sources which affect the accuracy of airborne LiDARpositioning, and focus on a quantitative analysis of the boresight angle error based on thegeometric positioning equation of airborne LiDAR.3. According to the impact of boresight angle error, design a manual calibration methodfor boresight angles and the corresponding calibration formula is derived. Through buildingerror model, this thesis also propose an automatic calibration method of boresight angle. Bothcalibration methods are tested with real calibration set data.Researching the calibration method and developing calibration software for AirborneLiDAR system is a key to improve the accuracy of its data. It has been one of the hot spot indata processing research of airborne LiDAR. This research of airborne LiDAR systemcalibration method has some practical and reference value.
