With the increase of human activities, all kinds of pollutants have come into thegroundwater system in the mid-20th century, it has caused the groundwater system toxicsubstances increased gradually, groundwater quality gradually declined, and began tothreaten to human’s normal life. In view of this,in order to have complete control ofgroundwater quality and pollution, provide a scientific basis for countries to makeGroundwater pollution prevention plan, protect groundwater resources,and ensure thesafety of drinking water, China Geological Survey have carried out the nationwideinvestigation and assessment of groundwater pollution projects based on the existing work.This study relied on the projects of "the north China plain groundwater pollutionsurvey and assessment" and "the groundwater pollution survey evaluation informationsystem construction and integration", According to work requires of the investigation andassessment of groundwater pollution, combined with the groundwater pollutioninvestigation contents and evaluation technique requirements, established the groundwaterpollution survey database with SQLServer, using vc++and MapGis secondarydevelopment functions, Delphi components development technique, design and developgroundwater pollution survey information system based on GIS. This system realizes thefunction of groundwater pollution survey data entry, management, query, drawings,groundwater quality evaluation, groundwater pollution evaluation, statistics, and export etc.Through its actual application, the system has provided technical support for groundwaterpollution survey data management and quality evaluation in geological explorationagencies, and set up a platform of the unified groundwater pollution data management andinformation for China Geological Survey. It has also provided a scientific basis for thecountry to make and implement the programme of the groundwater pollution control,protect groundwater resources and ensure the safety of the drinking water.This paper is divided into six parts, the first chapter describes background of thesystem project and analyzes the progress of the domestic and international groundwater anddatabase construction, elaborates the paper’s research content and significance anddetermines theroutes and methods. The second chaper states the groundwater pollutionsurvey information of the whole system design research. It describes the systemscheme,database design and system functional design through the analysis of the demand of the system. The third chapter creates the groundwater pollution investigation database onthe basis of the contents of the database and the relationship between groundwaterpollution investigation survey. The fourth chaper elaborates the concreterealization of the groundwater pollution survey of information systems. Focuses on thethematic charting, the design developmentand implementation of data evaluation. The fifthchapter introduces the key technical problems in information system development process;The sixth Chapter draws basic conclusions, and points out the innovations and lack of thisstudy after system application.
