Wei-he basin is the most typical region of horizontal deformation and the verticaldeformation. The Research of the relationship between fault activity and surface deformationhas practical significance in geological disaster prevention, building facilities maintenance ofthe city etc. Fault activities are divided into sliding and rotation, dislocation theory is aneffective tool to describe the relationship between fault sliding and surface deformation, but itneglects the influence of the fault rotation. The dislocation and disclination model which wascited from microscopic crystals are used to express the relationship between fault activity andsurface deformation and the computed formula are programmed with C++computer language. In order To test the model and calculation program’s correctness and effectiveness, surfacedeformation due to the single fault rotation has been numerically simulated. At the same time, horizontal displacement due to fault activity on GPS sites have been computed and comparedwith GPS observations in Wei-he basin, the innovation and results are as follows:1、Describe the relationship between fault slip&rotation and surface deformation withthe dislocation and disclination theory in isotropic half space, and compile the program inC++computer language.2、Calculate surface deformation in Wei-he basin with the dislocation and disclinationmodel, and found out that, in long-range faults simulation, it has to set the rotation angle asmaller value so that the theoretical result can better fit with the observed value. So the faultsactivity in Wei-he basin is mainly slip and with a little rotation.3、Compare the simulation results of dislocation and disclination model with GPS data inWei-he basin we can draw the conclusion that new model results has the same displacementtrends with the GPS observation data, except for a few abnormal points.
