The study area located at northeast of Alashan, which was also on the first grade of Huabeiconstruction unit, and the fault of north Alashan crossed the area.Bayingebi formation wasdeveloped on the basis of fold basement that led by Hualixi movement. After the early cretaceousYanshan movement of the third episode, and by the effect of crustal tension and relaxation, the lakebasin was formed and so was the Bayingebi formation. The mainly exposed layers in the area wasBayingebi formation, The main lithology is purplishred, white, yellow sand conglomerate, sandstone and dark gray, black mudstone rockcombination. The author finished the paper on the basis of former data and the project of “1:50000Regeional geological survey in Bayanmaodao and etc,Alashanzuoqi,Inner Monglia”The paper dida comprehensively Sedimentary environment analysis by field section and geological observationand Identification of rocks and fossils indoor. In the field works, lacustrine carbonate deposition and a large number ofContinental bivalves, gastropods, ostracods, Ye Zhijie and other animal fossils and a small amountoffossil plants was found, which provided the basis for the analysis of sedimentary facies.By the Principles of sedimentary basin analysis, morphological characteristics of sandbody, rock characteristics, sedimentary structure, fossil marks, sedimentarysequences characteristics are comprehensively studied, summarized that this region wasmainly developed lacustrine facies and fan delta facies. And furthermore, Binhu subfacies, shallow lake subfacies and semi deep lake deep lake subfacies were identified;also werefan delta hirahara aso fan delta front subfacies and delta frontsubfacies. A preliminary studybelieved that Balawula was the center of the lake, and Balong was the subsiding center, whichdeveloped Fan delta deposition and shore-shallow lacustrine sediment in Deduwulandele. Theresults of the study provided the prospection for oil shale in Sedimentary facies.
