The Development History And Prospects Of China’s Philosophy Of Social Technology

Since Deng Xiaoping and other national leaders of the party instructed to establish theChinese Society for Dialectics of Nature/Philosophy of Nature, Science and Technology(CSDN/PNST) in1978, the cause of China’s philosophy of social technology has achievedtremendous developments in the past30years. The research direction of discipline has shiftedfrom "Dialectics of Nature" to "Philosophy of social technology"; the research contents hasshifted from studies on pure sciences such as technology, mathematics, physics, to diversifiedstudies on science, technology, society, environment and management; the research team growfrom dozens of researchers to today’s thousands of researchers and dozens of institutions formaster and doctor training. Apart from "Dialectics of Nature Studies News Report", many otherresearch journals came into being, such as "Study on Dialectics of Nature","Philosophy Study",etc. All these indicate that the researches on China’s philosophy of social technology are veryactive.No matter in the depth and breadth of study objects or its own professional development,philosophy of social technology has broad prospects. Currently, the China’s philosophy of socialtechnology has made some achievements, and formed a much mature discipline system, andestablished many sub-branches such as ontology of technology, epistemology of technology,technology ontology, epistemology technology, axiology of technology, technological innovationtheory and so on. The paper takes the development history of China’s philosophy of socialtechnology in the thirty years of reform and opening up as the main line, which could be dividedinto three stages: the initial stage of China’s philosophy of social technology lasted from1980when Qian Xuesen first proposed the term "social technology" to1989; from1990to2000,China’s philosophy of social technology entered the period of rapid growth; From October14,2000when the "8th National Conference on Philosophy of Technology" was held, to2014, itentered a period of integrated development. Through the longitudinal comparison of thedevelopment of China’s philosophy of social technology in the three periods, the paper discussesthe social background of China’s philosophy of social technology in each period, studies thephilosophy of social technology research main characters, ideas, expression characteristics andwritings, situation of academic research in the field of philosophy of social technology in eachperiod, as well as the development trend of China’s philosophy of social technology. Based on the previous studies, the paper sorts out the situation of the development ofChina’s philosophy of social technology by investigating the main contents and features ofChina’s philosophy of social technology in the36years of reform and opening up, it points outthat the reflection on the philosophy of technology is of increasing importance, as the technologyapplication plays an increasingly important role in the society. The study will play a guiding rolein grasping and solving problems concerning the future technology ethics, technology methods,technical engineering, technical activities, technological value, technological forecast and otheraspects."Learning from history", it will be easy for us to understand the development path ofChina’s philosophy of social technology. In the era of great technological globalization, if westart from the development history of our country’s philosophy of social technology, it will beeasier for us to study the problems by integrating theory with practice, and seek the bestsolutions to the problems.
