Currently in the machine tool industry, the number of used machine tool accountsfor a large proportion. They should be out of commission but most of which still beemployed. The deficiencies of these used machine tool lie that they are difficult to meetthe processing requirement. In addition, the huge consumption of energy lead to a poorefficiency. So there is huge energy-saving potential for used machine tool withremanufacturing technology. However, the present technologies mainly focus on thedamage detecting and recovery technology of the remanufacturing parts, producecontrol technology, remanufacturing process and equipment technology, etc, while lessfocus on the machine energy research.In this paper, many energy consumption problems in the process are included, suchas what is the energy difference between the old machine and remanufactured one;whether the manufactured one definitely consumes less energy than the old one andwhat the proportion is, etc. Based on these problems, the work carried out in this papermainly includes the following:Firstly, According to the energy distribution of machine tool, the machine toolenergy analytical model is developed. Five energy modules are included: maintransmission system, feed system, hydraulic system, cooling and lubrication system andothersystem; the energy calculation model of modules are carried out; and computingmethod and flow of the machine tool is given. In order to verify the running status ofenergy modules, the logic energy simulation of machine tool based on the change ofmachine states is developed with the simulation tool Simulink/Stateflow; during theprocess, old machine and remanufactured machine are integrated into a same Simulinkenvironment so that the output result can be compared and analyzed and provided datareference to the remanufacturing energy-saving technology.Then the energy-saving key technologies of remanufacturing are researched.Energy saving ways of machine tool remanufacturing are carried out, and theremanufacturing of machine tool modules are given; Three typical remanufacturingenergy-saving technologies are elaborated which are lightweight components forenergy-efficient machine tool, variable-frequency regulating speed technology and athermal control and recycle device, which overcome the traditional weakness of heatand cooling method, and reuse part of the primary lost energy. Finally, an example of large horizontal floor plate type boring and milling machineis given to discuss the energy consumption for a same sample workpiece. The resultshows that heavy duty machine tool has its specific energy features and componentdistribution, and its energy saving capacity is obvious. The energy consumption featureand proportion of old machine and remanufactured machine is given from aspects ofprocess and energy module. The reason is analyzed and guiding significance for thefollow-up research is carried out.
