With the rapid development of glass production technology, there is more and moreresearch value of the glass electric furnace. At the same time, with the rapid developmentof China’s computer technology and glass industry, the requirements of the automationin the glass production process rise continuously. Therefore, using advanced controltechnology and equipment to monitor the feeding of the glass electrical furnace andaccurate control of temperature is very necessary.At present, most glass electrical furnaces are feeded by the automatic feedingmachines. Electric furnace, heated by some electrodes, is used to melt the glass material.In this paper, the study of glass electric furnace was composed of the following four parts:feeding process of the glass electrical furnace, development of PC monitoring softwareWinCC, design of fuzzy self-tuning PID controller for the electric furnace’s temperatureand design of the temperature control system based on OPC technology.In this paper, firstly, the research status, commonly used treatment method and testingstandards of the glass electrical furnace’s feeding and temperature control was introduced.Secondly, a PLC program was designed according to the feeding process of the glasselectric furnace, and monitoring pictures of the feeding process were designed usingWinCC, containing equipment control picture, equipment simulation picture, real-timetrend picture of the glass temperature, etc. The function of WinCC was full used and themonitoring and management of the feeding process became more convenient.In addition, intelligent temperature control of the glass electric furnace was studiedbased on the status and method of temperature control. According to traditional PIDcontrol theory and fuzzy control theory, fuzzy self-tuning PID controller was designed forthe glass temperature. Then the control system simulation model was established withSimulink in MATLAB, and the simulation research on the fuzzy self-tuning PIDtemperature control system was conducted.Finally, real-time temperature control of the glass electric furnace was studied.Communication between control algorithm in MATLAB and PLC was realized through OPC technology, thus the fuzzy self-tuning PID controller in Simulink can exchange datawith the PLC directly, to control the temperature of the electric furnace in real time. Themethod has great practical significance to the automation industry.
