Recently, refining equipments are required to be enhanced in both quality and quantity, with the development of national economy and the enhancement of environmental protection requirement. The service conditions of hydrogenation reactor which is the key equipment in the modern petroleum refining industry, are more and more severe, including the hydrogen environment, high operating temperature and high pressure. Furthermore, because of the large scale tendency, the equipment wall thickness and the weight are larger and larger, which cause material waste. So, a new pressure vessel steel, with high-intensity and adapt to the above-mentioned severe environments, is urgent to be exploited. In the circumstances, we have to exploit a modified, superior performance Cr-Mo steel which is2.25Cr-1Mo-0.25V. In order to manufacture qualified reactors, this article has researched manufacturing engineering of this material, experimented on welding, heat-treatment and material properties, and drew up the optimum technology on welding, thermoforming of base metal, post-welding beat treatment and manufacturing engineering. All of these research results have laid a strong foundation to apply this material in both theoretical and practical aspects.
