Good resistance to high temperature softening, anti-arc erosion and abrasion resistance, these features make dispersion strengthened copper-base composite material is widely used in electrodes, electrical contacts and lead frame materials. In this paper Al2O3was selected as a second reinforcing phase, dispersion strengthened copper were prepared with the method of internal oxidation, and external oxidation, internal oxidation and thermoplastic forming process were studied. The following were the results:(1) The speed of external oxidation weight gain gradually slowed down with time, the rate of oxidation became faster with the lower Al content in the powder and the more fine powder.(2) The hardness of powders greatly were improved after the process of internal oxidation, the higher the content of Al in the powders were, the thicker the powders were, the greater the hardness of the powders after internal oxidation were. The oxygen of110%during external oxidation and internal oxidation for2.5h at880℃was selected as optimum process.(3) The hardness and the conductivity of the samples obtained in the sintering process were not high, while the performance increased after the next rolling process. The samples obtained by sheath extrusion molding had high hardness and conductivity, hardness value reached133.64Hv, conductivity reached72.46%IACS.
