Study On The Shape Of Sleeves Of Women’s Dress Based On Sleeve Matching Point Combination

With the development of the times and increasingly fast pace of fashion, dress style changesmore rapidly. Sleeve as the most important part of the dress become one of the focuses in thedress design, some of the new fashion elements and diversified design to be showed in theclothing shape of sleeves. In recent years, the unique design for the shape of sleeves hasbecome the highlight of brand clothing, on which clothing brand and fashion designerespecially put emphasis.This thesis chose the most representative sleeve in women’s dress which is in the highestfrequency of use as an example to study thefactors influencing the shape of sleeves from theangle of combination of design and technology, and put forward the concept of sleeve matchingpoints and the combined relationship. From the point of different combinations of sleevematching relation, the shape of sleeves of women’s dress was divided into natural shouldersleeve modelling, narrow shoulder sleeve modelling, wide shoulder sleeve modelling as well asthe falling shoulder sleeve modelling. With this four kinds of sleeve shape as the carrier,through the practical operation and theoretical generalization approach, the thesis studied howthe the shape of sleeve with different combinations of sleeve matching relation played adecisive role in dress, how to express the clothing style, how to strengthen the brandcharacteristics, and how the art and technology will integrate etc.The main idea of this thesis is as follows:First of all, the background, the purpose and significance of this study were summarized,and the correlative study with the method of literature research at home and abroad wassummed up; The methodology, technical route and framework of the thesis were introducedand the recent development and relevant elements of the shape of sleeves in women’sdress were analyzed; The research breakthrough point and the carrier were determined and theconceptsof sleeve matching points and the combined relationship were put forward.Secondly, the basic concepts and the connotation of sleeve matching points and thecombined relationship were defined through a large amount of practice and summary; From the point of different combinations of sleeve matching relation, the shape of sleeves of women’sdress was divided into natural shoulder sleeve modelling, narrow shoulder sleeve modelling,wide shoulder sleeve modelling as well as the falling shoulder sleeve modelling; thecombination rules of sleeve matching point of different sleeve type and suitable clothingstyle were explored.Thirdly, being studied from the history of the development of characteristics of clothingand sleeves of each period wereclarified, the Chinese clothing inthirty years after China’sreform and opening up as an example; The representative era in which four shapes of sleeveswere formed according to different combinations of sleeve matching relation was analyzed andthat the shape of sleeves is a popular carrier was verified from the different periods and stylesperspective; Four different styles of women’s dress were listed to analyze how the shape ofsleeves reflect the the dress style; And how the shape of sleeves strengthen brand characteristicsfrom the perspective of brand was analyzed.Finally, from a practical point of view, a women’s brand with the use of narrow shouldersleeve modelling was selected to put it into practice. The results of the research was applied tobusiness practice; a series of product development was carried out; a number ofproducts were designed and developed according to the company’s customer group; and at last adress is created to achieve the combination of theory and practic.Practice shows that paying attention to the application of sleeve matching point andsleevematching point combination in the platemaking is helpful to solve modellingproblems from thetechnical level, combine the design and technology perfectly, and make the shape of sleevesexpress the fashion better, reflect the clothing style and strengthen brand characteristics. Thethesis is to provide a reference for the design personnel and the technical personnel from thepromotion of enterprise effectiveness perspective, to make technical personnel understand thedeeper meaning of sleeve design, better support and complete the designer’s intention, and tomake the designer more rational from the point of view of technology and to create the originaldesign with wearing and artistic quality.
