More and more foreigners to learn Chinese and comprehend Chinese culture, has become a trend inthe present society. Diet is also a part of the culture. In recent years, there are a lot of research aboutcultural differences between and Chinese diet. This topic is more comprehensive and specific to all aspectsof the cultural differences between Chinese and Western food, and reveal the reasons for the differences ofChinese and Western food culture more in-depth and extensive research to provide a certain referencevalue.Diet is closely related to the lives of everyone, it is a classic culture of each nation. There are a lot ofdifferences in Chinese and Western food culture. This paper is divided into five chapters elaborated. First,in the preface the research background and significance of Chinese and Western food culture are discussed.Additionally, there is a summary of domestic and foreign research. The second chapter simply describes theconnotation and characteristics of Chinese and Western food culture. The third chapter is the core part ofthis thesis, mainly from the five parts of the dietary concept, dietary manner, dietary content, cookingmethods and table manners detail analysis shows the differences between Chinese and Western foodculture. And the next chapter reasons for the differences in the Western and Chinese diet culture from threeaspects of the climate and environment, religion, lifestyle described. The last chapter briefly describes theinterflow and merge of the Chinese diet in the west as well as the Western diet in China.I hope that this thesis will make a contribution to the differences of Chinese and western food culture,and can make more people understand the cultural differences in the Western and Chinese diet. I hope itcan effectively avoid both sides of communication bring about the misconceptions and incomprehensionabout the cultural differences when intercultural communication, and also promote further culturalexchanges, complementary and fusion.
