With the greenhouse efect become more and more severe, people are experiencinghotter and hotter environment. Meanwhile, people may need to work at hot environmentat some situations, such as working in boilers, doctors of bird flu or SARS wearing protec-tive cloth, workers of Fukushima nuclear power station (after explosion) wearing nuclearprotective cloth and etc. Without good cooling, exposing in such hot environments fora long time would cause prostration, and shock if serious. So cooling while in hot en-vironment become an important problems. However, cooling outside cloth can not be aefective method in some situations, such as wearing thick and heavy bio-, chemical-ornuclear-protective cloth. As a result, Researches on cooling in cloth become important.In this thesis, standard human model are used. People are divided into16segments,i.e. head, chest, back, hands, legs and etc. Every segments has multi layers, such as skin,fat, bone and etc. Active and passive systems are taken into consideration. Numericalsimulation has been used for human heat transfer, including stable condition, transientmetabolic rate condition and transient environment condition. Numerical simulation re-sults well meet the literature data, so these results can be used for future calculation ofthermal sensation and comfort.With the result of human heat transfer, by Zhang’s thermal sensation and comfortmodels, core temperature, change rate of core temperature, skin temperature and changerate of skin temperature are used to calculate body segments’ local sensations, local com-forts, whole body’s thermal sensation and comforts. Optimization the cooling jacket isthe main object in this thesis, so the local sensations and comforts at chest and back is fo-cused. Through numerical calculation, best air velocities corresponding the best comfortsat back and chest are found.Under the consideration of the structure of jacket and trunk, distributions of vents onjacket are optimized using numerical simulation method. The results show the structuresof shoulder blade and breast strongly influence the distributions of air at trunk. At back-side, putting the vents at shoulder blade is the best, while in chest-side, the upper breastis the best position for vents. Then the optimized inlet velocity is found, which can makethe chest and back to the best thermal comforts.
