As our country has developed into the world’s manufacturing center, and thetwelfth five-year-plan outline for national economic and social development has putforward the requirement for rejuvenating mechanical equipment industry, our country’sdemand for steel production is becoming much larger, and about half of the steelproduction is used by welding structure. As the steel sewing machine, weldingtechnology will show its importance. However, In China most of the sales of weldingequipment in high-end equipment are taken by foreign brands, so to do research onnew high-end welding technology is quite significant.It is a kind of high-performance arc welding equipment that has good controlperformance, stable operation and flawless formation of welding seam and producesfew splashes. The quality of the arc welding equipment depends on its controltechnology of arc welding power source. This paper takes arc welding power source asmain study object and arc welding as the load object, and proposes a control strategysuitable for the load characteristics of arc welding power source, starting from thestructure of the PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) rectifier and the load characteristics ofarc welding power source.This paper first introduce the arc welding power source and its control systemdevelopment present situation, then introduces the main circuit structure of powersource PWM converter structure and work principle,And the arc welding of the loadcharacteristics are analyzed, and based on this, the main circuit based on the arcwelding power source PWM rectifier of indirect current control based on BP(BackPropagation) network control and direct current control method based on PFC(Predictive Fuction Control)control for the study, and use of MATLAB/simulinksoftware of the two kinds of control method of the simulation. The simulation resultsshow that the method of indirect current control based on BP network control suitablehas strong robustness and fast response, the direct current control strategy is easy to beimplemented, low cost, and high accuracy, the welding current can tracking the reference value fastly, the system is stability, this two method all statisfy theapplication requirement of arc welding power source.
