Ocean resource is the focus of fierce competition in the international countries in recentyears with the increasing depletion of land resource. In order to reduce our dependence onforeign technologies, developing offshore oil and gas field in deep water also becomes thenecessary strategic choice of our country. A kind of retrievable collet connection technology isresearched in detail depending on CNOOC project of "underwater separators and relatedtechnology research". Retrievable collet connection is a new, quick type of pipelineconnection used in deep water oil and gas field. A retrievable collet connector is developedsuitable for six inches based on the requirements of the design parameters.The paper discussed the general design scheme of the deep water retrievable colletconnector on the basis of further research of related technology of collet connector at homeand abord. Introduced operating procedures, working principle, structure and hydraulicsystem in detail,designed the connector and installation tool and its hydraulic system, andmade mechanical analysis of core components, and the static structural of core components isanalyzed with ANSYS Workbench, verified the rationality of the structures.According to the collet connector used in deep sea oil pipeline connected withhigh-temperature and high-pressure inter, low-temperature and high-pressure outer conditions,pipe joint sealing technology and cone face with spherical surface sealing mechanism hasbeen researched, and then deduced the formula of sealing pressure and improved the sealingstructure. This paper also analyzed the form of mechanical seal leakage and micromorphology of leak path, then established the mathematical model of the leakage rate.At last, this paper verified the correctness of the functional principle of the connector andthe reliability of the sealing performance by land functional and performance test, exploredthe influence from the real ocean environment of the operating process of the connector,verified the correctness of the improved new type sealing ring. Finally, this paper made surethat the structure of collet connector is legitimate, fully functional, and performance reliable.
