Compared with foreign textile enterprises, China’s textile industry as a whole is still relatively low level of information technology, which resulted in low productivity and poor product quality. Such situation will inevitably weaken our textile industry in the international competitiveness. To reduce maintenance costs, improve product quality, enhance the level of management and promote production efficiency, the government issued "textile industry restructuring and revitalization plan" in2009. Now, auto monitoring of textile machinery has become a hot research area in textile industry.In this paper, we first take textile production environment as background, and aim at designing an auto monitoring system for textile production. In our design, this system use wireless sensors on machines to collect running data, and then send the data to monitoring center computer via GPRS channels. In the monitoring center, a computer runs specially developed software for processing and displaying the data. Just sit before the computer, the enterprise managers can monitor each production workshop in real time.Then we discussed various system design and implementation plans in detail, and gives the overall solution based on the wireless monitoring network.In the workshop, we use wireless sensor network (WSN) to collect the running data of textile machinery. Given the environmental characteristics of the textile workshop, we designed a special MAC protocol to simplify the transmission process, and reduce the power consumption, and thereby increase the WSN network availability. We discuss different plans for remote data transmission, and adopt the method that based on the GPRS channel. We define the transport protocol and design the corresponding hardware module. The monitoring software, with the state display, report generation, automatic alarm function and so on, is designed and implemented. With the help of this software, managers can achieve remote monitoring of production, which will improve management efficiency and productivity, reduce production costs. Finally, this paper conducted a simulation test on the entire system, from both functional verification and power consumption. The result shows that the system has good availability.
