Medium frequency induction heating furnace is a general equipment of the mechanical processing of forging. It has a very important significance by adopting automatic control technology to achieve production automation of the metal forging material heating, such as reducing labor intensity, improving the productivity and quality of product, saving energy and reducing consumption, removing pollution, etc..In the Medium frequency induction heating furnace system, whether the quality of workpiece is right or not relays on its temperature.For temperature control problems, technological processes of heating furnace are analyzed. By analyzing the I/O relationship of each processing stage in the view of electricity and thermodynamics, a mathematical model is established, which contain major disturbance’s influence on the workpiece temperature control.The characteristic parameters and system model was obtained based on simulation of this model. A new test method which was about model parameters off-line identification was put forward according to restricted problem in processing stage. The model of induction heating system provided the basic condition of simulation optimization.Through carefully analyzing the stages of measurement and control requirements of automatic control system of metal forging materials heating, the design of the automatic control system of the medium frequency has been completed based on S7-200PLC and touch screen. The control programs operate steadily, but the temperature control effect is yet to be verfied.The research works on medium frequency induction heating furnace automatic control has practical application value.
