With the fast developing of technology, the requirement of parts manufacturingprecision is much higher. The traditional processing method is hard to satisfy theneeds of production efficiency, so the increasing efficiency and automation ofdesign and manufacture is the inexorable trend in the future. The length-diameterratio of power station valve rod is bigger, and the stem material is steel. So it willhappen to bending inflection low cutting efficiency and severe tool wear, which isalways a problem for valve stem process. The research of power station has greatsignificance. The paper propose to install the model of dimension error aiming at thecommon dimension error during the lathe work of valve stem with the analysis andmachine process error, and the craft and feature of valve rod structure. We figureout the cutting force and cutting heat is the main factor of happening to dimensionerror. Utilizing the finite element modeling simulation designs the scheme ofoptimizing machining parameters.Producing the finite element modeling software and main factor of metalcutting analysis the material characteristic of power station valve stem and choosethe proper material model, which is in order to build finite element model usingprofessional software Advantedge FEM with adaptive mesh generation skill. At last, we adopt orthogonal experiment method to design finite elementoptimization scheme, which is using Advantedge FEM to simulate cutting valve rodand get cutting speed and feed influence rule into cutting force, cutting temperatureand pressure stress. After that we can chose the machining parameters by comparingthe simulation results. Cutting parameters in the last turning of stem with movablesupport are optimized in order to maximize production rate using genetic algorithm. The objective function of the last turning is built to minimize the production time. Based on the dimensional errors and cutting parameter. Experimental show that theproposed optimization method is product quality stable, cutting efficiency andlonger tool life.
