Due to the use of non-contact electrical discharge machining method, theLow-Speed WEDM wire walking has incomparable advantages over traditionalcutting. Now it occupied indispensable position in all areas such as aerospace,aviation electronics, instruments, meters, automobiles, light industry, machinery,precision machinery industry. And one of the main factors that affecting the EDMmachining process level and the processing speed is EDM machine pulse powersupply. To improve the accuracy of existing EDM machining, this dissertationdesigned a wire walking pulse power supply based on DSP.Firstly, the working principle and application of the pulse power supply arediscussed in brief. The current situation and trend of the LS-WEDM and pulse powersupply are introduced. The electrical parameters of pulse power supply was studied.Then, analyzed the influence of the electrical parameters on the process level ofEDM. In this way, we confirmed the best electrical parameters. Then raised the maincircuit structure of pulse power supply in this design. The main circuit is divided intotwo parts, the front-stage DC/DC converter and the post-stage processing circuit. Thefront-stage DC/DC converter provide a constant pulse for pulse power supply tomake breakdown. The post processing circuit achieve discharge by charge anddischarge of capacitor and power switch tube. This dissertation not only analyzes theworking principle of the main circuit and the preceding stage DC/DC converteroperating mode, but also designed the hardware of the main circuit.In the control, this dissertation use DSP chip as the control core, completed thecontrol circuit including the drive circuit and protection circuits. Finally, installed thepulsed power supply on the existing wire walking cutting machine to do theexperiments of electric discharge, in order to verify the feasibility of the design. Theresults show that the design of EDM wire pulse power supply can be achieved and the machining accuracy is favorable.
