Honing liquid is continuously injected into the gap which is between the grinding head and the inner surface of the work-piece for lubrication and cooling. The variation of the liquid property will change the airflow in the gap and induce the measurement error that refers to the accuracy of the on-line pneumatic measurement. However, the traditional honing processing does not consider the impact of honing liquid performance on online pneumatic measuring. This article focuses on studying the impacts of honing liquid characteristic on on-line pneumatic measuring accuracy.In order to simulate the actual honing process, we designed a platform which consists of the main test bed, fundamental principles, experimental instruments, PLC data acquisition unit and human-machine interface to investigate the effect of honing liquid property on on-line pneumatic measuring accuracy. We also design the experimental device of calibrating characteristic curve of the pneumatic measuring. The characteristic curve of the pneumatic measuring instrument and calibrated the linear part of the curve, which provided theoretical basis for the subsequent research are plotted.Furthermore, we selected multiple sections to draw the measurement-viscosity curve in order to ensure the reliability of the influence of the honing liquid viscosity and temperature on the measuring accuracy. The experiment results contains the effect of wet-honing on the measure value that compare with dry-honing and curve that shows the change of fluid viscosity can influence the measurement. And the experiment results coincide the simulation results. Based on the result, we put forward some ways to improve the measures. In the same way,we plotted quantitative curve that liquid temperature change can influence the measures accuracy and built a compensation mathematical model by calculating the average deviation between the measurement values at various temperatures and the actual value in water-based honing liquid condition. The mathematical model verified by calculation can provide theoretical basis for the on-line automatic high-accuracy measuring in honing process.
