Thiazolidine-4-one and its derivatives are important heterocyclic compounds. They have attracted extensive interest because of the great biological activity by modifying their structure. Investigations on these compounds have been increased in recent years.In this dissertation, nine thiosemeicarbazides and nine thiosemicarbozones were obtained from the material of primary amines in two steps. Nine 2-iminothiazolidine-4-ones were synthesized from thiosemicarbozones by cyclization with BrCH2COOC2H5. Their structures were confirmed by IR, MS and NMR. The experimental results show that this route for thiazolidine-4-ones synthesis has advantages such as facile material, good stability, simple operation and high yields.4-Hydroxymethyl-1,3-oxazolines, which are derivatives of oxazolines, can be used as catalysts in asymmetric reactions or intermediates for synthesis of chiral ligands. They are promising compounds in asymmetric catalysis.In this dissertation, four (R)-2-aryl-4-hydroxymethyl-1,3-oxazolines were synthesized from L-Serine methyl ester hydrochloride and aryl cyanides in three steps, which were imidization, cyclization and reduction. Their structures were confirmed by IR, MS and 1HNMR.
