The pumpkin is widely grown, worldwide and popular vegetable. It is not only a grain and vegetable, but also a grain substitutes in the period of war years and natural disasters. In recent years, pumpkin has become one of the important melons and vegetables. With the area expanding, the annual cultivated area increased to1.33million hectares in Zhejiang Province. Recent years, the pumpkin production is developing rapidly. The early spring facility cultivation has become an important cultivation form Shaoxing becomes the important production base for spring tender pumpkin in Zhejiang Province. The value per mu is about7,000Yuan. There are some certain size pumpkin production bases in Shaoxing City, such as Doumen town. Pumpkin industry has higher status in the city and the province’s agricultural farming.At the present, the main varieties are chestnut pumpkin. Its melon body is big, bad shaped and low output. Its weight is generally1-2kg and fruiting later. The first female nodes more is than10or15; fruiting plant only3-4melons. It can hardly meet the production needs of consumers and early spring cultivation.According to the market demand and growers requirements, our research team has bred out a new pumpkin variety Cui Li No.1. It was passed the main crop varieties certification of the Agriculture Department of Zhejiang Province in January2008. It has the advantages of high output, the yield in early spring facility cultivation tender melon can get3000-3500kg/667m2, spring culture tender melon’s production is about1500kg/667m2. Early maturity, the first female flower nodes are7-8; with more female flowers. The capability of melon yield is good, and can continuously grow female flowers, the number of female flower is above7-8per20nodes. Fruit is welcomed by consumer, a fresh melon weight is about500g, the color of melon skin is bright green and light green stripe, the melon pulp is light yellow. The single leaf area is lesser than common verity, petiole short. The melon quality is slightly better and with public fruit shape. The yield is10%higher than the main cropping verity Jin Li.In order to obtain a set of nice cultivation methods for new variety pumpkin, the author did field experiment for several years. This article summarizes several cultivation pattern of Cui Li No.1pumpkin, which includes the high yield and high efficient cultivation techniques in early spring season, high yield cultivation techniques in early spring open field, and high yield cultivation techniques of autumn facilities. In addition, the article also comprises the cultivation techniques in different sowing date and density experiment. Through the comparison of different characteristics of main pumpkin varieties in Zhejiang province,’Cui Li No.1’high yield seed production technique was summarized during the process of seed production in the past few years.
