| Objective To compare the effects of patellar resurfacing and retention in total kneearthroplasty. Methods From August2010to November2010,69patients who underwent TKA inOrthopedic Department,Affiliated Hospital Ningxia Medical University were covered in thisstudy, they were randomly assigned to one of two groups:34knees with patellar retention,and35knees with patellar resurfacing. All clinical evaluation was performed in a blindedmanner. They were followed for six weeks, three months, six months, twelve months andtwenty-four months. All the results were evaluated with the use of the knee score, kneefunction score, patellar score system, incidence of postoperative anterior knee pain andradiographs. The data were analyzed using SPSS software. Results There was significant difference between the two groups on patellarscore. There was significant difference between the two groups on knee function score at6months and12months,P<0.05. The patellar score of resurfacing group was higher than that ofthe retention group. As to tibiofemoral angle, patellar ligament ratio and patellar tilt angle, nosignificant difference between the two groups was detected(P>0.05).Conclusion Patella replacement group can improved knee function score, patellarscore and reduce incidence of postoperative anterior knee pain。The postoperative mean kneescore and radiographs were no significant between the two groups. |
