Objective:Explore the effect of the maxillary defect prosthetic treatment of severalretention forms in the clinical application. The cases included in the study for patientswith maxillary defects, treated in the Prosthodontics in November2009to June2011,atotal of four cases.2males,2females;age between59-76years old, average age67.5years.Divided into three groups based on its defect. One case:Class Ⅰ defect formaxillary hard palate defect. Two cases:Class Ⅴ defect,as unilateral maxillarydefect. One case:class Ⅶ5defect for the side of the edentulous maxillary defect. Methods:Hollow prostheses were made for each patient. Class Ⅰ defect wasrepaired by using a stent and silicone rubber material. Class Ⅴ defect was repairedby using clasp retention enhanced by the crowns and clasp retention with Taiji buttonattachment. Class Ⅶ5defect was repaired by using Magnetic root-cap-typeattachment. Wear it after the manufacture. Throughout the process was recorded by thesame doctor. Response Evaluation Criteria: Reference to the evaluation requirementsproposed by Zhao Yimin and other scholars[1]:①Excellent: intact prosthesis,; prosthesisare in good stability, restore the patient’s voice and looks, in part to restore chewingfunction, no drinking cough, no tooth loosening.②Good: intact prosthesis, prosthesis ingood stability can be partially restored the voice of the patient’s chewing function andappearance, no drinking water, choking. but tooth mobility.③Poor: Any of thefollowing one: Prosthesis damaged or fracture of the clasp; stability of the prosthesis isbad. Can not be effectively restored the voice, chewing function and face of the patient’s.Cause the apparent loosening of the tooth due to prosthesis.Result:Four cases of maxillary defect repaired by hollow prosthetic have asuperior clinical effect. In the group of maxillary hard palate defect, patient’s face did not change before and after the repair. The facial appearance in the remaining threepatients have greatly improved, Prosthesis are stable and in good retention. Restore thepatient’s voice and appearance, the partial restoration of masticatory function, nodrinking water, choking, tooth mobility, patients’mental state have been greatlyinproved, their self-confidence are increased. Conclusion: Reasonable retention form of design is one of the key steps in theprosthetic.Prosthetic treatment of patients with maxillary defects is relatively faster, cheaper and more convenient. It can significantly improve the function of mastication, pronunciation, etc. Patients are easily satisfied. Is commonly used in clinical treatment.
