| The health of medical personnel is closely related to medical service quality. However, the health of present medical personnel is simply not optimistic for their long timeoverworking and the particularity of hospital working environment. So it is important to focuson the health of medical personnel. The health belief model, including perception of diseasesusceptibility, perception of the severity of disease, perception of the benefit of healthbehavior and perception of health behavior disorder, is the first theoretical model applied tothe interpretation of personal health behavior. It analyses various factors that affect healthbehavior from the social psychology angle. To see factors that affect health status of medicalpersonnel, this study investigated and integrated the health belief, health behavior and healthstatus of medical personnel based on the concept of the health belief model. The researchresults were expected to provide scientific basis for health care of medical personnel. The medical personnel from a comprehensive Third Class A Hospital were surveyed bythe questionnaires designed based on health belief model from July to September in2009.There were1473questioners issued to the medical personnel including doctors, nurses andmedical technicians and1340effective responses. The returned effective percentage was90.97%. Questions included individual basic condition, health belief, health behavior andhealth status. The results were statistically analyzed using SPSS17.0software. Dichotomousoutcomes were The difference of dichotomous variables were compared with the t-test, andpolytomous variables were compared with variance analysis. Continuous variables usedPearson correlation analysis. The results of the study showed that health belief was influenced by individual basiccondition. Sexuality, age, station, length of service and professional title were the mainlyinfluence factors on health belief, which had larger influence on perceived susceptibility, perceived seriousness and perceived barriers to behaviors. The doctors showed higherperceived susceptibility than nurses and medical technicians. Individual basic condition had no significant influence on perceivedbarriers to behaviors. There were significant correlationbetween health belief and health behavior. The longer medical personnel worked a day, thegreater the likelihood of perceived susceptibility and obstacles to healthy behavior. It may berelated with busy work. People having weekly regular and long-time exercise thought theirhealth behavior were less likely to be affected by the outside world. On the contrary, peopleexercising less and irregularly were more likely to have perceived susceptibility and theycould be seriously affected by diseases. They couldn’t exercise regularly, since there were somany factors such as busy work contributing. In the aspects of metal health, physiologicalhealth and social health, the medical personnel who had weekly regular and long-timeexercise were better than those exercising irregularly. Behavior was the important factorwhich could influence health. Night work had significant influence on health, which meantnight work was an important risk factor for overall health. This study identified the factors involved in individual basic condition is closely relatedto health behavior. Health behavior and health belief are inseparable. Medical personnelshould establish positive health belief to get fit. The leadership of hospitals should not onlyenhance the quality of the medical care, but also pay attention to psychological managementof medical personnel’s behavior to help medical personnel acquire correct understanding andrelieve pressure, which could promote physical and mental health of medical personnel andguarantee medical quality. We hope the research results can make society and governmentdepartments concern the health status of medical personnel, improve doctor-patientrelationship, raise living quality of doctors and provide evidence for formulating relatedpolicies. |
