Research Objectives:Based on the international and national experience of the integration of family planning service with AIDS prevention services, we took Gejiu City as the study site to study the feasibility of integrating family planning service with AIDS prevention service aiming at seeking modes that are appriorate for local situation and can be scaling up to other settings so as to use the well established family plaiing service network to carry out AIDS prevention and treatment services.Research Methods:Literature review and field study are the main research methods used in this study. Taking family planning workers and institutions in Gejiu City as the main subjects, we conducted questionair survey and in-depth interview to collect data, and used Microsoft Excel、Epidata2.1for data entry and SPSS17.0for data analysis.Research results:Around90%of the surveyed family planning workers are willing to provide services to HIV patients and their families, however, their knowledge and skills are inadequate and trainings are needed. In terms of the family planning service institutions, the workload of family planning workers is not heavy and there are several entry points in the daily family planning services that can integrate with AIDS services. However, family planning workers have not been systimaticlly trained on AIDS service and they are not yet approved by health authority to provide VCT and other AIDS services. The national policy encourages family planning system to provide HIV services, however, great efforts are needed overcome barriers caused by the compartilization of different systems and to strengthen the cooperation nd collaboration of health and family planning systems. Conclusions and recommendations:It is feasible to carry out HIV prevention services in the FP service system. Compared with family planning workers at county and township level. The village FP workers have less HIV prevention knowledge and their discrimination of HIV is stronger. Training is needed to enhance their capacity. And pilot work should be conducted to integrate family planning with HIV/AIDS prevention.
