Objective To compare the curative effect of radial extracorporeal shock wavetherapy and local pain points block therapy in the plantar fasciitis. Methods Fortypatients with plantar fasciitis were included in the study,20patients of them receivedradial extracorporeal shock wave therapy(group shock wave) and the others received localpain points block therapy (group points block) randomly. Visual Analog Scale(VAS)score was used to evaluate the extent of pain before the therapy and for the first day afterthe therapy and the last or4weeks after the last therapy. Results Prior to the therapy, theVAS scores were similar between both groups. VAS scores of the last therapy and4weeks after the therapy were significantly lower than before therapy (P<0.05).And VASscores decreased lower in group shock wave than in group points block at the first dayafter the therapy (P<0.05). The last4weeks after treatment, group shock wave and grouppoints block similar VAS score decreased, there was no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).Before and4weeks after treatment, the shock and pain points block groupdegree of pain relief had no statistically significant difference (P>0.05). Conclusion Localpain points block therapy showed a better effectiveness for treating plantar fasciitis inshort-term,while there was no significant long-term difference in therapeutic effectbetween the two groups. |
