Objective: To clarity the expression of Ezrin, E-cadherin and ICAM-1ingastric cardia carcinoma tissue and their clinicopathological significance. Methods: The expression of Ezrin, E-cadherin and ICAM-1were detected byimmunohistochemical technique in60samples of gastric cardia carcinoma tissue and30samples of pericancerous normal mucosa of the first affiliated hospital of henanuniversity of science and technology from2000to2010, they had not beenpreoperative radiation and chemotherapy, and their association withclinicopathological characteristics were analyzed.Results:①The expressionrate of Ezrin in gastric cardia carcinoma tissue wassignificantly higher than that in adjacent normal gastric cardia tissue [63.33%(38/60)Vs23.00%(7/30),P<0.05], The expression rate of E-cadherin in gastric cardiacarcinoma tissue was significantly lower than that in adjacent normal gastric cardiatissue [48.33%(29/60) Vs90.00%(27/30), P<0.05]. The expression rate of ICAM-1ingastric cardia carcinoma tissue was significantly higher than that in adjacent normalgastric cardia tissue [75.00%(45/60)Vs33.00%(10/30), P<0.05].②The expressionof Ezrin, E-cadherin and ICAM-1were significantly correlated with depth of tumorinvasion, lymph node metastasis, differentiation and TNM stages (P<0.05), but notcorrelated with age and gender of patients (P>0.05). The positive rates of Ezrin proteinin stageⅠ,Ⅱand Ⅲwere30.00%(3/10)、61.29%(19/31)、84.21%(16/19), indifferentiation of high, medium and low differentiation were14.29%(1/7)、65.91%(29/44)、88.89%(8/9), in lymph node metastasis and no lymph node metastasis were82.86%(29/35) and36.00%(9/25) in gastric cardia carcinoma tissue; The positiverates of E-cadherin protein in stageⅠ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ were90.00%(9/10)、48.39%(15/31)、26.32%(5/19) in differentiation of high, medium and lowdifferentiation were85.71%(6/7)、47.73%(21/44)、22.22%(2/9),in lymphnode metastasis and no lymph node metastasis were31.43%(11/35)'72.00% (18/25)in gastric cardia carcinoma tissue; The positive rates of ICAM-1protein instageⅠ,Ⅱand Ⅲ were30.00%(3/10)、77.42%(24/31)、94.74%(18/19),in differentiation of high, medium and low differentiation were28.57%(2/7)、77.27%(34/44)、100.00%(9/9),in lymph node metastasis and no lymph nodemetastasis were88.57%(31/35)'56.00%(14/25)in gastric cardia carcinomatissue;③The expression of E-cadherin protein with the expression of Ezrin andICAM-1was a significant negative correlation (r=-0.302,r=-0.354,P <0.05); Theexpression of Ezrin and ICAM-1was was a Significant positive correlation (r=0.359,P <0.05).Conclusion:1. The expression of Ezrin and ICAM-1protein in gastric cardiacarcinoma tissue was significantly higher than normal tissue, which suggested that theabnormal expression of Ezrin and ICAM-1may be related to the occurrence anddevelopment of gastric cardia carcinoma are closely related.2. The expression of E-cadherin protein in normal Gastric Cardiac tissues wassignificantly higher than in gastric cardia carcinoma tissue, which suggested that theabnormal expression of E-cadherin may be related to the occurrence and developmentof gastric cardia carcinoma are closely related.3. The expression of Ezrin, E-cadherin and ICAM-1in gastric cardia carcinomatissue were significantly related with tumor differentiation, depth of invasion, lymphnode metastasis,TNM stages.Suggested that these proteins may be related to thedegree of malignancy、invasion and metastasis of gastric cardia carcinoma.4. The expression of E-cadherin protein with the expression of Ezrin and ICAM-1was a significant negative correlation, Ezrin and ICAM-1was a significant positivecorrelation. They might be involved in the proliferation and differentiation of tumorcells.
