Objective:Explore the value of the NT index to evaluate the severity level of disturbance of consciousness and to predict prognosis of coma patients by comparing GCS and APACHE Ⅱ. So as to establish a set of digital method to assess the severity level of disturbance of consciousness and to predict the prognosis.Methods:50coma patients from whom staying at the ICU at least24hours. Study the APACHE Ⅱ and GCS of them and monitoring the original NT index and the NT index after stimulation. Patients were followed up for assessment of clinical prognosis for3months after the day that they were sent to the ICU. Analysis the correlation of NT, APACHE Ⅱ and GCS to detect the ability of NT index to evaluate the severity level of disturbance of consciousness. Analysis the correlation of NT index before or after stimulate and GOS to detect the value of NT in predicting the prognosis. To dectect the effects of stimulation on NT index. As well as to comparing the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, error rates of original NT index with NT index after stimulate. Results:The evaluation results of NT, APACHE Ⅱ and GCS are relevant and can predict the prognosis of patients. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy on predicting prognosis of NT index after stimulate group were higher than the original NT group, and the error rate were lower. Conclusion:NT, APACHE Ⅱ, GCS can be used in a coma patients for consciousness grading assessment and also can correctly evaluate the prognosis of patients.
