Objective:To develop a Chinese version of the Body Image after Breast Cancer Questionnaire and evaluate its reliability and validity.Methods:There were517breast cancer patients,coming from the breast and thyroid surgery of the second Xiangya hospital and breast surgery of xiangya hospital of central south university. These patients whose pathological examination results were breast cancer, accomplishing the Chinese Versions of Body Image after Breast Cancer Questionnaire (BIBCQ-C), Hamilton Depression Rating Scale for Depression (HAMD-17), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast(FACT-B); four weeks later, randomly readministered to a subset(n=31) of breast cancer patients respectively.Results:(1) Internal consistency reliability:Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of the total scale was0.96, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of the six subscales ranged from0.94to0.99, the mean inter-item correlation coefficient of the total scale was0.35, the mean inter-item correlation coefficient of the six subscale ranged from0.81to0.90;(2) Test-retest reliability:the test-retest reliability of the total scale was0.80,the test-retest reliability of nine subscales ranged from0.64to0.87;(3) Criterion-related validity:the results of bivariate Pearson correlation and partial correlation showed that body image significantly related with quality of life,depressive and anxious symptoms;(4) Construct valid ity:confirmatory factor analysis shown that:the following five indices met the standard of psychometrics:CFI=0.92,IFI=0.92, TLI=0.92,NFI=0.9,RMSEA=0.08.Conclusion:The properties of BIBCQ-Chinese Version met the standard of psycho metries, and indicated that it is a reliable and valid assessment of body image after breast cancer.
