Objective:①To evaluate quality of life in patients with axillary osmidrosis (AO) before and after liposuction and Xiaozhiling Infusion.②To determine the effect of Xiaozhiling on apocrine sweat gland by pathological observation.③To compare the effects between liposuction and Xiaozhiling infusion and liposuction surgical procedure for treatment of axillary osmidrosis (AO).Methods:①Dermatology Life Quality Index(DLQI) forms were filled in by patients themselves before and after liposuction and Xiaozhiling Infusion and results were compared.②Little pieces of skin taken from AO patients’axillae were divided randomly into two groups. Experimental group(EG) was immersed in a1:1mixture of Xiaozhiling and saline while Control group(CG) was only immersed in saline. Pathological change was observed by optics and electron microscope.③EG includes55patients who received liposuction and Xiaozhiling Infusion. CG includes31patients who received liposuction. Follow-ups were made6months after operation in every patients. Malodor was graded into four levels and was evaluated pre-and post-operatively.Results:①The median and interquartile range of DLQI score after treatment in EG were0.00and5.00while12.00and6.00in CG.②Apocrine cells of EG showed signs of necrosis under optics and electron microscope with no similar presentation in CG.③There was no statistical difference of pre-operative malodor level between two groups(P=0.265). The post-operative malodor level were of statistical importance compared to pre-operative malodor level in both groups. The difference of post-operative malodor level between EG and CG was of statistical importance(P<0.001).Conclusion:①Liposuction and Xiaozhiling infusion is an effective surgical therapy option for treatment of AO and can improve the life-quality of AO patients.②Xiaozhiling had a direct impair effect on apocrine cells.
