Objective: To investigate therapeutic effect of Huabianlian(HBL) extractcombining glucocorticoid (GC) in treatment of tibial fracture rat model of complexregional pain syndrome type1(CRPS1)and their effect on rat serum macrophagemigration inhibitory factor(MIF)expression.Method: After making tibial fracture rat model,seventy-five adult healthy SpragueDawley (SD) rats(about300gram)were randomly divided into treatment controlgroup, treatment group1and treatment group2with25rats in each group. All thetreatment lasts for two weeks. MIF were measured and pain threshold was observedbefore and after(before treatment)making tibial fracture rat model and after treatment. Results:The pain thresholds after the treatment of all groups were higher than thatafter(before treatment)making tibial fracture rat model to some extent, but the rise ofthe pain threshold in treatment group2was higher than that of treatment controlgroup and treatment group2(P﹤0.05,P﹤0.05). After treatment the serum MIF intreatment group2was lower than that in treatment control group and treatment group1(P﹤0.05,P﹤0.05).Conclusion: HBL extract alone has certain therapeutic effect on CRPS1.HBLextract combining GC has better therapeutic effect on CRPS1, HBL extractcombining middle-dose GC has better therapeutic effect than HBL extract combininglow-dose GC on CRPS1. GC enhances HBL extract to suppress MIF expression. HBLextract suppresses low-dose GC induce MIF expression. The effect of differenttreatment groups depends on the extent MIF surpressed.
