Camphor and its derivatives are important chiral compounds, as an important organic chemical intermediate, they are widely used in daily chemical industry, light industry and medicine industry. Camphor rigid skeleton structure has the obvious space effect, and the stereoselective is better, so the study on their synthesis and reaction mechanism has important practical significance. Radical reaction has wide application in the actual production and the daily life, such as the synthesis of hydrogen chloride, combustion of gasoline, the body’s oxidative damage, and therefore it has more important practical significance to study the mechanism of free radical reactions and their phenomenon. This article mainly through synthetics a series of camphor derivatives to study the structural changes of these derivatives under certain conditions, and to explore the reaction mechanism of these changes. The mainly ideas are such as the following:In this article, it first introduces the structural characteristics and preparation methods of camphor; and second camphor derivatives were introduced, including the preparation of camphor derivatives and applications in asymmetric organic synthesis; in addition, a brief description of camphor derivatives structural changes, such as the introduction of the functional group and the bond breaking, are followed. Depending on the current research situation, we determine the research direction:the synthesis of camphor derivatives and the study of the changes of their structure. In the experimental part, the natural camphor as the starting material is through a series of multi-step reaction to synthesis the camphor derivatives. Then the work is to study the changes of these compounds under the conditions, such as the light, the heating, the catalyst, pH and so on. The changes includs bond fragmentation and rearrangement of camphor ring. Through the identification of the1H-NMR spectra and 13C-NMR spectrum, the structure of the final products are determined. The reaction mechanism is inferred to be free radical reactions, and it looks forward to some practical application.
