Objective To investigate the correlation between Serum Cycstain C (CysC) level and patients with cerebral infarction of carotid atherosclerosis of young and middle-aged adults.Methods Firstly,196cases of cerebral infarction,55years old or less, were collected were by the volume, and divided into two group by the sore of NIHSS(National Institute of Health Stroke Scale),and accordoing to the modified TOAST etiology classification can be divided into five group, include cardiac cerebral infarction(CE)group, artery atherosclerotic cerebal infarction(LAA) group, small artery occlusive cerebral infarction(SOA) group, clarity of cerebral infarction(OC) group in other diseases, cerebral infarction(UND) group of unknown causes. Control group included76cases of non-cerebral infarction. A particle enhanced immune turbidimtry was employed to measure the serum concentrations of CysC. The serum CysC check was employed after one week and related state of illness. Analyse the relationship between serum CysC level and cerebral infarction, and the correlations with other parameters were also evaluated. Results The serum CysC level was significantly higher in acute phase of cerebral infarction patients than that of control group, the difference was statistically significant, P<0.05;and the serum CysC level of acute phase was significantly higher than recovery phase, P<0.01; and the serum CysC level of the large infarction group (1.39±0.19) mg/L was significantly higher than that of middle infarction group (1.21±0.61) mg/L and small infarction grou (1.16±0.18) mg/L, p<0.01.Serum levels of CysC of LAA group (1.29±0.41) mg/L was significantly higher than that of control group (0.86±0.28) mg/L, and other causes each cerebral infarction was a little higher than the control group, without statistical significant. And the serum levels of CysCof arteries group (1.29±0.01) mg/L was significantly higher than that of control group. And the serum levels of CysC of unstable atherosclerotic plaque group (1.38±0.02) mg/L was significantly higher than that of stable plaque group(1.20±0.01) mg/L.And the serum levels of CysC is associated with the degree of carotid atheroscerosis. The serum levels of CysC of the cerebral infarction had a positive correlation with homocysteine and low density lipoprotein cholesterol, and negatively correlated to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol; multiple regression analysis showed that serum CysC as a independent risk factor for ischemic cerebral infarction. Conclusions Increased serum CysC levels was independant risk factors of ischemic cerebral infarction, and severity of ischemic cerebral apoplexy and hardening of the arteries,and the serum Cystation C can be used as serum stroke prevention and treatment of ischemic cerebral infarction and the reference of condition monitoring indicators.
