Purpose:To investigate the expression and significance of CD56, TPO, CK19, Galectin-3and HBME-1in thyroid Papillary Lesions for the diagnosis and differencial diagnosis.Methods:166cases of thyroid Papillary lesions including103cases of Papillary thyroid carcinomas (TPC) and63cases of Thyroid papillary hyperplasia (TPH) were collected, An immunohistochemical EnVision method was selected for the expression of CD56, TPO, CK19, Galectin-3and HBME-1in the thyroid Papillary lesions.Results:(1) The CD56membrane expression was84%in TPH and19%in TPC.(2) The TPO nucleus expression was85.7%in TPH and17.5%in TPC.(3) The CK19membrane/cytoplasm expression was98%in TPC and14.28%in TPH.(4) The Galectin-3membrane/cytoplasm expression was78.6%in TPC and19%in TPH.(5) The HBME-1membrane/cytoplasm expression was86.4%in TPC and2.38%in TPH.Conclusions:The CD56and TPO are expressed in most of the TPH, while CK19, Galectin-3 and HBME-1are expressed in most of the TPC (P<0.001). Although the morphology is important for the diagnosis, but the expression of the CD56, TPO, CK19, Galectin-3and HBME-1is also very helpful for those atypical thyroid Papillary Lesions.
