Objective:To comprehensively investigate the efficacy of simple surgery and adjuvant treatment after operation for patients with glioblastoma multiforme.Patients and Methods:We retrospectively reviewed120consecutive patients with histological diagnosis of glioblastoma multiforme(GBM), including70males and50females, who underwent complete resection between May2010and June2012at Shandong Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong University. The median age was43.2(range15to65years). Clinical data were collected from individual patients. The survival was analyzed by the Kaplan-Meier method.120trials were divided into two groups.39cases in group1received only complete surgical removal, while81patients in group2were treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy after the operation. Results:All patients were died of recurrence of this malignant tumor. The median survival time of group1was6months with the other group was13.o months. The symptoms of those patients were improved obviously in group2compared with those in group1. The survival rate of6months,12months,18months and24months in group2were96.34%58.02%13.58%3.70%while53.84%2.56%0%0%in group1retrospectively.(P (0.01) The results have shown statistical significance. Conclusion: The adjuvant treatment of radiotherapy and chemotherapy have indicated superior outcomes and increased the median survival time to some extent for patients with post-operation glioblastoma multiforme.
