| After shanghai opened to foreign trade by the1842, her economy and education system experienced a great change and became modernized. As it was deeply effected by the western thought of vocation education and adult education, private tutorial school flourished in shanghai during the republic of China. However, communist party seized the power of shanghai in may1949, and the fate of its private tutorial school turned. There was a movement event of tutorial school students, most coming from Lixin tutorial, Chinese professional tutorial school, in1952. The paper, based on this movement, will try to make clear research of the transform process of the tutorial school of shanghai during1952-1956. it reflect a corner of tutorial school in the early1950s from another aspect.Except the introduction and conclusion, this article consists of5chapters. In the introduction, I explain why I choose this thesis and make a clear introduction of already published papers that have something to do with this thesis.Chapter1introduce the historical background of transformation and take over of the tutorial schools in shanghai between1952-1956.Chapter2answers why the event happened in1952and how did the shanghai municipal government do after the event.Chapter3makes a clear statement of the movement event of tutorial school in1952. By analyzing the reason and process of the event, slogan of the students, we can know that the event is more concerning of the unemployment during the social transformation than the education problems.Chapter4mainly research the process, that how did shanghai municipal government do after the movement event of tutorial school.Chapter5studies the measures that municipal government took to reform the tutorial schools between1953-1956, as a result, all of them become junior high schools. With the enforcement of the first "5-year plan", the government reduced the rate of education expenditure. As a result, a great number of primary school graduates can’t go to junior high school. In order to deal with the problem, shanghai municipal government reformed the tutorial schools and make them acceptable for primary school graduates. However, the reform produced some other problems beyond the expectation of the government leaders, including the unemployment of some teachers.The conclusion of the thesis presents the transformation process of the tutorial schools of shanghai in1950s. |
