The oppisition to "li/zhong/nei" in Chinese is roughly the same as "trong" in Vietnamese. Students whose mother language is Vietnamese often learn "li/zhong/nei"with the affect from "trong" in their mind and make some mistakes. So, this paper compares the usage and the meaning of direction word "li/zhong/nei"and "trong" in order to find the same as well as differences between them, to get something useful to students. Direction word reflects the characteristics of cognition of space."li/zhong/nei" and "trong" reflect the characteristics of cognition of space in Chinese and Vietnamese. This paper not only compare the usage and the meanings of "li/zhong/nei" and "trong" but also try to get the differences of the cognition of space in Chinese and Vietnamese and do error analysis and give teaching strategies.Chapter one is the preface of the paper. It introduces the meaning, the extent of this paper and concludes a comprehensive analysis which is related to this thesis. It also illustrates the basic theories and analyzing methods.Chapter two mainly bases on the previous researches about these two groups of direction word, include Chinese "li/zhong/nei" and Vietnamese "trong". Besides, this page also finds the differences between these two groups of direction word of its usage and meaning.Chapter three has focused on the results of the questionnaire on first year Vietnamese students who study Chinese in the Danang University of Foreign Languages on how they use Chinese “li/zhong/nei” in real situation to find theirmistakes. The aim of this page is to understand how they are learning and how muchthey understand the usage of Chinese direction word “li/zhong/nei”.Chapter four is focusing on finding the reasons why Vietnamese studentswho learn Chinese have these kinds of mistake. Furthermore, to help them in theirstudying, this page also shows some teaching strategies to cope with these mistakesand also help students to study Chinese direction word “li/zhong/nei” effective andefficiency.Chapter five summarizes our viewpoints.
