Psychologists have carried on massive theoretic discussions and experimentalresearches involved in the effects of working memory on mathematic problemsolving, and have accumulated a lot of valuable materials. Studies have shown thatworking memory span that is predictive for problem solving ability, workingmemory span size may be the important factors that affected problem-solving. Mostof the previous studies are involved in algebra problem solving among mathematicalquestions, but the geometry problems experimental study on the effects of workingmemory is only one type of a geometry question. But for geometry problems, thereare various kinds of questions. Different types of geometric examine ability indifferent angles, the factors that affect the subject of different types may be different, therefore, I want to study the impact of working memory to solve geometricproblems, and it is necessary to consider these questions of different types ofgeometry. In this study,84students in grade3of a junior high school have been selectedas the participants of this research, field experiments and questionnaires are used toexplore the working memory of junior high school geometry word problems solving. The main findings of the whole research are:(1) Visuospatial working memory span was significant in the type of mediumand difficult problem solving of graphical representation, Visuospatial workingmemory span was significant in the type of difficult geometry problem solving ofliteral representation. For three tapes of difficult geometry problem solving asliteral representation it has also been significant.(2) Verbal working memory span affected the type of graphic representationdifficult problem solving, verbal working memory span on problem solvinginfluenced geometry as literal representation of the type of medium and difficultgeometry problems. For three kinds of difficult geometry problem solving as literalrepresentation type it has also been significant. The teaching significance of this study was that according to the effects ofworking memory span in different types on mathematic problem solving, providedtheory basis and guidance method for educators to effectively organize teachingcontent and conduct individual instruction according to students working memorycharacteristic.
