Hanfeizi’s theory of trust in the Pre-Qin society has the unique ethical value.Because ofthe practice success and lessons of failure of legalist thought in the Qin Dynasty, Hanfeizi’stheory of trust is often being criticized and neglected.But we can not deny the value ofconstructing harmonious society by using Hanfeizi’s theory of trust to contemporary China.This paper is divided into five parts to discuss:The first part of research situation and research background on Hanfeizi’s theory of trustare summarized, and the research method be showed etc.The first chapter introduces Hanfeizi’s trust with its historical background and the theorybackground,and suggests the trust system collapse stimulates Hanfeizi’s theory oftrust.Confucians advocate benevolence integrity, Mohists advocate universal love Connaught,Taoists advocate“Wu wei er wu bu wei”(“无为而无不为”),and the legalist before Hanfeiziadvocate penalty and encourage.From the above results are the Hanfeizi’s trust theory origin.The second chapter introduces Hanfeizi’s trust theory.It includes three aspects of therelationship of trust, the principles of trust,the essence and extension of trust.The costructionof trust relationship includes kinship and blood relations, the relationship between theemperor and liegeman.They are the patriarchal relations in essence. Construction of trustrelationship need to follow two principles, namely “to selfish, righteousness” and “educateby law”. Interpersonal trust obey the system trust.Trust protection need some strategies, suchas fa(法),shu(术) and shi(势), and should be based on shu(术) as the core. The trust itselfbelongs to the moral, and needs to get nourishment from other moral.The third chapter analysises the practice and inherit of Hanfeizi trust theory, and pointsout that the Qin Dynasty on Hanfeizi’s trust as a good political practice.The Han Dynasty toQin Dynasty error is corrected somewhat.But in general, Han feizi’s institutional trust get theinheritance and development.Hanfeizi’s trust theory on the influence of the traditional culturein the “public”,“law”, namely for the people,and law education.It is good to the constructionof contemporary harmonious society.Conclusion makes a summary that interpersonal trust and institutional trust has its own characteristics.If it can be put to good use, will make the reconstruction of trust andconsolidate, stimulate the development of country and society.
